LD21 Volunteer Projects

Arizona is a rare toss-up state in the presidential election. Because of the electoral college, the 2024 presidential election will likely be determined by a few thousand votes in a few key toss up states. In 2020, Biden won our state by less than 11,000 votes. What happens here will impact the nation.

As one of only seven battleground states, the future will be decided in Arizona.

Postcards

LD21 newly registered voters postcard project

We are continually sending welcome postcards to all newly registered LD21 voters.  In addition to thanking them for registering as a Democratic voter, we let them know how to contact us if they would like to get more information or volunteer.

- If you would like to contribute to help us cover the cost of the stamps, click the donate button below.

- If you would like to send postcards, contact us at azld21democrats@gmail.com

Bilingual voter registration postcard project

We are part of a national campaign with Field Team 6, LD20 and LD23 to increase voter registration.

We will provide the postcard as well as the English and Spanish version of the message, while the postcard sender provides the stamps and writes the messages.

Time is of the essence - we want the postcards to go out by August 30.

Please let us know if you, your family, your friends will help out with this project.

10,000 Voters Project

Local relationship-building through face-to-face conversations, phone calls and texts from local volunteers, are an effective way to increase voter participation. Help us boost Democratic vote totals in this key election year through our 10,000 Voters project that is patterned after our very successful project of the same name in 2022.

What? Volunteers are assigned a group of voters and will contact them three times between now and the Election. (At least one contact will be in person at the door.)

Who?  We will focus on Democratic-friendly voters who often do not vote. There are over 10,000 of them in LD21! Many of these voters just need a little encouragement to cast their ballots.

Where?  Unless they prefer otherwise, volunteers will be assigned voters from, or close to, their own neighborhood.  Being local helps break the ice and helps establish credibility.

Why? Our votes have national implications in Arizona. We are a critical swing state for the Presidential election and for the control of the U.S. Senate. We have a chance to turn Arizona blue up and down the ballot and to protect abortion care. History shows that our talking to voter groups increases their turnout by 3-5%. In Arizona that could mean everything!

*If you think you can help, but are not able to take on the whole project, let us know; we will accommodate your schedule.

Can you help?

We know that we can gain votes for our candidates with this project.  We are only limited by the number of voters we are able to talk with, and that’s only limited by how many volunteers we have.

  • Willing to talk to voters, but you would like to do it with a buddy?  We will help match you up with someone who can go with you.

  • Not comfortable knocking on doors, but willing to be a driver for those who do?  Let us know!

  • Not able to go door to door, but you’re willing to call voters?  We'll need help with phone calls, too.  Voters who live in hard-to-canvass areas will need to be contacted by phone.

LD21 Democrats Volunteer Opportunites

LD21 Dems have many opportunities for volunteers to contribute. Let us know your areas of experience/interest:

Multi choice

Democratic Precinct Committeeperson

for Legislative District 21

Are you a registered Democratic voter in LD21 who keeps up with all of the political news?

Do you care who wins elections?

If your answer is yes to these questions, you are the perfect person to be a Democratic Precinct Committeeperson (PC).

As a PC, you could make the difference between:

- a Trump or Harris win: In 2020, Biden won Arizona by just 0.3% of the vote, or about 7 votes per precinct.

- a Republican or Democratic Attorney General: In 2022, Attorney General Kris Mayes won by 280 votes.

EVERY VOTE COUNTS.

As a PC, your role is to help elect Democrats locally, statewide and nationally by:

  • Registering voters

  • Meeting Democrats and like-minded voters in your area

  • Listening to voters concerns and convey them to Democratic leadership

  • Informing voters about Democratic candidates and issues, including ballot initiatives

  • Getting out the vote in primary and general elections

As a PC, you’ll also represent and help shape your county parties and the Arizona Democratic Party. Your basic responsibilities will include:

  • Attending the monthly zoom meeting of AZ LD21

  • Staying connected with Democratic and liberal leaning Independent voters in your neighborhood

  • Being familiar with the Democratic Platform

  • Recruiting additional volunteers in your area

As an elected PC, you can be elected into other Democratic Party leadership positions within LD21, your county, and state.
